Before I found Udacity, I had always been afraid of coding since I almost failed a computing unit at my university. At that time, I tried various ways to learn it such as asking my tutors, my friends and online sources. However, I still could not understand it. Since then, I have grown fearful about it. Then, when I attempted to look for a job in Canberra, most of the interviewers required coding skills. Thus, I had no choice but to study it again even though I was scared of it. With the support of my friend, she encouraged me to take a course in Udacity. I appreciated her because I have now overcome the fright.

Learning Process

The course I have taken is called The Front End Web Developer. It teaches me how to establish the website and the app through HTML, CSS and JS. HTML is the first thing to learn which is the code to build the structure of a web page and its content. Then, CSS is the code to design the style of the page.

After learning CSS and HTML, I was able to create a landing page for my own portfolio.

Challenge

I am confident to do these two codes; however, I have been struggling to study Javascript because its computing language is not as simple as the previous one. It is because the codes can create an interactive experience for users. Thus, it requires a high comprehension of code.

Practice Plan

  • I plan to ill complete the learning of JS after this semester. To enhance my skill, I will enroll the 99designs to join the competition. It is helpful for me because I can improve my code technique and have more projects for my portfolio.

  • To motivate myself more, I will apply this to the expression exercises. With this method, I am able to master both techniques at the same time.
